MUSICAL DIRECTOR

Haydock MVC celebrated its Centenary in 2023. It is a well established Choir with an enviable record and reputation. We are based in St. Helens our Membership is around 36 Members. We rehearse once per week on a Tuesday evening. Prior to a competition or concert we may rehearse on an extra evening. We give concerts across the wider area. We are also known for sharing the stage with other Choirs and Choral Groups. we also perform with Bands and Orchestras. We have an excellent record in competitions and look to build on this.
Our programme is varied covering all musical genres, we are particularly keen to push the boundaries of Male Voice Singing to find and perform pieces not normally associated with Male Voice Choirs.
We pay a fee to the Musical Director for both concerts and Rehearsals.
We look for the following skills in this Appointment.
- Experience of conducting a choir
- Ability to work with and adult choir, to motivate them and to help improve their performance
- Lead rehearsals with a sense of humour and respect for individuals
- Work collaboratively with the choir committee, Officers and Accompanist.
- Take responsibility for rehearsal schedules and for concert programmes which must have broad appeal to choir and audience alike.
- Haydock has always been a family choir and the successful applicant will acknowledge this and continue to support this.
